The Hot Wheels AMX/2 is based upon the AMX/2 concept car by American Motors Corporation. The 2-seater fastback featured a mid-engine design with twin exhausts and a ribbed engine cover.

The die-cast car was a 1971 release that was designed by Paul Tam. Production was in the U.S.

It can be found in a variety of Spectraflame colors. Details include clear windows, a black interior, painted taillights, and capped redline wheels. The louvered rear hatches can be opened to reveal the engine.

Included with the vehicle was a collector’s button that can be plastic or metal with a smooth tab. Both buttons have an AMX/2 on a yellow background.
