1970 is an eventful year for Hot Wheels. Many new vehicles were introduced as well as two new series, Spoilers and Heavyweights.

It is the first year for a Hot Wheels Club. Three mail-in only cars were exclusive to the club.

The first promotional vehicle was released, the Jack “Rabbit” Special. It was available from Jack in the Box fast-food restaurants.

Mattel also sponsored Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen. Hot Wheels funny cars endorsing the sponsorship were released.
