Custom AMX

The Hot Wheels Custom AMX is based upon the American Motors Corporation AMX. It is a high-performance 2-door coupe with an AMC V8 engine that was produced from 1968 through 1970.

The die-cast vehicle was a 1969 release and was designed by Ira Gilford. Production was in the U.S.

It can be found in a variety of Spectraflame colors and has a white interior. The AMX has an opening hood and the redline wheels can be bearing or capped.

Included with the car was a collector’s button with an orange AMX on a yellow background. There are notched and smooth tabbed Hong Kong buttons.

There is a very rare version that was only available in the U.K. It is Spectraflame blue and based upon the AMX drag racer that was driven by Ed Shaver and sponsored by Hot Wheels. The only difference between a regular AMX and the “Ed Shaver” version is the “Racing Car Series” blister pack and the included decal sheet.
