Custom Barracuda

The Hot Wheels Custom Barracuda is based upon the 1967 Plymouth Barracuda. The second generation Barracuda featured Coke-bottle contours and was available as a hardtop, fastback, or convertible.

The die-cast vehicle was a 1968 release and was designed by Harry Bradley. It can be found in a variety of Spectraflame colors. An opening hood reveals a detailed engine, the rear taillights are painted orange, and the car has bearing redline wheels.

Production was in the U.S. and Hong Kong with some differences in design. A U.S. car has a clear windshield and a detailed interior. Interior color can be white, grey, or brown.

A Hong Kong car has a blue tinted windshield and an interior with a separate black steering wheel. The base has mechanical details, suspension holes, and “Hong Kong”. Interior color can be white, grey, silver, brown, or purple.

Hybrid versions of the Barracuda can also be found. A hybrid has a U.S. body and a Hong Kong base.

Included with the car was a collector’s button. The button has a purple Barracuda on a yellow background and can have a notched tab or a smooth tab.
