McLaren M6A

The Hot Wheels McLaren M6A is based upon the race car of the same name. It debuted in the 1967 Can-Am season and featured a wedge-shape, raised tail, monocoque chassis, and a 5.9-liter Chevrolet V8 engine.

The die-cast vehicle was a 1969 release that was designed by Ira Gilford. It can be found in orange enamel, many different Spectraflame colors, and a rare red enamel. A rear hatch opens to reveal a detailed engine. The interior is black and it has bearing redline wheels.

Production was in the U.S. and Hong Kong. A U.S. car has clear windows, vents on the front fenders, and a rare variation may have a brown interior. A Hong Kong car has blue tinted windows and a base with suspension holes and “Hong Kong”.

The McLaren M6A is part of the Grand Prix series. Included with the car was a sheet with three “4” stickers.

Also included was a collector’s button with an orange M6A on a green background. There are notched and smooth tabbed Hong Kong buttons and a smooth tabbed “Printed in U.S.A.” button.
