Porsche 917

The Hot Wheels Porsche 917 is based upon the prototype race car that was designed to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was a 1974 release that was designed by Ira Gilford and produced in Hong Kong.

The die-cast car can be found in orange or red enamel, with red being more rare. It has blue tinted windows, a black interior, and an opening rear hatch that reveals the engine. The base is metal and the redline wheels are through-hole.

Red, yellow, and purple stripes and graphics decorate the car. “9” is on the nose and “Porsche” is along each side of the top.

This is a reissue of the Porsche 917 from 1973 with a couple of changes. It is detailed with printed graphics and is only available in two colors. It also has all through-hole redline wheels. The 1973 version had through-hole in the front and capped in the back.
