Ramblin’ Wrecker

The Hot Wheels Backwoods Bomb is an original design of a tow truck. It was a 1975 release that was designed by Larry Wood and produced in Hong Kong.

The die-cast vehicle is white enamel decorated with yellow and blue graphics. A three-starred badge is on the doors and “Larry’s 24 Hr. Towing” is on the sides. The phone number “375-1670” as well as “WT 3800”, “GRO 4800” and “NET 2200” are also on the sides. There is variation that does not have the phone number.

It has a black interior, blue tow truck boom, and a chrome plastic base. Black tinted or blue tinted windows are possible. The redline wheels are through-hole. Later releases can have black wall wheels.

The Ramblin’ Wrecker shares the same casting as another 1975 release, the Backwoods Bomb. Instead of a tow truck boom, the Backwoods Bomb has a camper in the bed.
