Red Baron

The Hot Wheels Red Baron is based upon the Monogram model kit designed by Tom Daniel. The hot rod model features an exposed engine and a German helmet with a decorative top spike.

The die-cast hot rod was a 1970 release that was designed by Howard Rees. Production was in Hong Kong.

It is Spectraflame red with an unpainted helmet embellished with a black Iron Cross emblem on the sides. Details include capped Redline wheels. It has a black interior, but a rare white interior is possible. Reproductions of the Red Baron with white interiors are plentiful.

Included with the vehicle was a collector’s button that can be plastic or metal with a smooth tab. Both buttons have a Red Baron on a yellow background.

Monogram had a special promotion that included the die-cast vehicle with the Red Baron model kit. The Hot Wheels car was packaged in a baggie.
