Tow Truck

The Hot Wheels Tow Truck is an original design of a recovery vehicle. The die-cast truck was a 1970 release that was designed by Ira Gilford. Production was in Hong Kong.

It can be found in many Spectraflame colors. The windows are tinted blue, white and brown are possible interior colors, and the redline wheels are capped.

The tow bed is yellow with a white boom and a double-hooked wire hitch. A sticker with the Hot Wheels logo and “Tow Service” decorates the sides. The bed attaches to a short-bed truck that is also used with several other vehicles. “The Heavyweights” is on the base.

The Tow Truck was released as part of the Heavyweights series. Included with the vehicle was a collector’s button. The button can be plastic or metal with a smooth tab. Both types feature a blue Tow Truck on a yellow background.
