The Hot Wheels Xploder is a reissue of the AMX/2. The die-cast car was a 1973 release that was designed by Paul Tam and produced in Hong Kong.

It is available in many different enamel colors, has blue tinted windows, a black interior, and “Xploder” is on the base. Louvered rear hatches can be opened to reveal the engine. The redline wheels are through-hole in the front and capped in the back.

The Xploder and AMX/2 are very similar, but do have a few differences. The Xploder has enamel instead of Spectraflame paint and lacks painted taillights. Rounded protectors were added to the base next to the rear wheels.
